Becoming a Woman of Worship
But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. John 4:23-24
Am I a true worshipper? How can I find out? Well, in John 4:23 it says that if I am a true worshipper, I must worship Him in Spirit and in truth. Now, most of us have no problem with the Spirit aspect . We have perfected the buck, the shout, the face, the tears, even the dance, but we fall short when it comes to the truth. What do we mean by the “Truth”? John 17:17 says sanctify them through thy truth, thy Word is truth. Okay, now we’re getting somewhere. So, if the Word is the truth, then we can replace truth with Word. Let’s read John 4:24, “God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in truth (the Word).
Wow! What a revelation! So, I must not only jump, shout and dance, but I must also worship Him by doing His Word. That must mean that Worship and Obedience go hand in hand. We worship God through our obedience. What a surprise for some of us because we always thought worship just meant what we do on Sunday, or that worship was when the praise team started singing the slow songs. Worship encompasses relationship, and relationship breed obedience. We must have a relationship with Christ in order to have a desire to follow His Word.
So, I ask the questions again, “Am I a true worshipper? Let’s take a little test to gauge where we are:
Do I obey everything that God tells me to do?
- Have I freed myself from gossip?
- Have I forgiven all the people that I am angry with?
- Do I tithe, give offering and sow?
- Do I love my neighbor as myself?
- Am I committed to my word? (That means do I do what I say I will do?)
- Have I learned not to mistreat others in the body of Christ?
- Do I live Holy? (this means free from drinking, smoking, fornicating, lying, stealing, fighting etc…)
- Do I spend time studying the Word of God and building a relationship with Him?
- Do I love and take care of myself?
If you can’t answer yes to all of the above questions, then start working on the ones that you answered no to. This will put you well on your way to becoming a “True Worshipper
